In a world where “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” (according to Kate Moss), Lebo Mashile would beg to differ. The author, poet and personality has caused a stir, following her appearance on the cover of November’s True Love magazine, by demanding an apology for the photoshopping-out of her curves. No one says “no” to Lebo: she duly got one from the magazine’s editor, Dora Sithole.
Thank you Lebo for standing up for your curves, and in so doing, for every woman’s!
Here’s Women24 with the story:
“True Love would like to unreservedly apologise to our resident columnist one of Mansi’s leading literary lights, Lebogang Mashile, for the manner in which we handled her cover image for our November 2009 edition. The cover image was retouched and made Lebo look slimmer than she actually is – something which she immediately brought to our attention…”

Lebo is gorgeous, but I hardly recognised the generic "pretty" on the cover. It seems they photoshopped out not only her curves, but a lot of other stuff that makes her unique. Fabulous that she demanded an apology -- here's one sister who's comfy in her skin.

Lebo is quite right to insist on an apology from True Love. It's ironic that a magazine with such a title should be editing out what makes people real. You would have thought they would at least appreciate the fact that if there is to be any true love there should be true people and Lebo is one of the most authentic people you'll ever meet. She's smart, beautiful, creative, fun and seriously photogenic. I have done portraits of her that capture some of her beauty and there was no help I needed from Photoshop
