Kalk Bay is without a doubt one of the most charming towns in all of the Western Cape. But it wasn’t for its quaint shops or good food that hordes ventured there on Friday night. No – they descended on the town to celebrate the anniversary of a national treasure in the book world – Kalk Bay Books. For those in the know (how lucky they are!) Kalk Bay Books becomes a must stop destination on every vacation or weekly visit down the coast. And so it was that the multitudes filled the store to overflowing to commemorate its third birthday.
Between the bubbly and terrific food poet Finuala Dowling and Cape Talk’s John Maytham regaled everyone with a very witty, insightful, humorous, emotion-filled poetry and prose programme. All in all a birthday well celebrated.
