Aspiring UK publishers between the ages of 25 and 35 can enter for the Young Publishing Entrepeneur Award 2010. The award is one of nine managed by the British Council for creative entrepeneurs. Now in its fourth year, it’s aimed at encouraging budding publishers to do their own thing.
What’s more, the shortlisted entrepreneurs will get to travel to South Africa ahead of the 2010 London Book Fair:
In February 2010 the six finalists for UKYPE 10 will travel together to South Africa.
During their tour the group will meet their peers, other South African young publishing entrepreneurs, and leading figures from South Africa’s publishing industry. They will find out more about the industry’s infrastructure, the market and how to do business in South Africa. The tour will open the door to South Africa’s publishing industry.
The award has an international counterpart that sees publishing entrepreneurs from the Commonwealth travel to the LBF. Last year’s SA IYPEY winner was Arthur Attwell of Electric Book Works.
Entries for the UKYPE close on 30 November.
