The University of Cape Town is hosting an important conference from 2 to 6 December: Beyond Reconciliation – Dealing with the Aftermath of Mass Trauma and Political Violence.
You are invited to participate in the public dialogue event, “Reconciliation in South Africa: Are Things Falling Apart?” on the Friday, which will feature Antjie Krog, Mamphela Ramphele and Jonathen Jansen, among others.
Our vision is to extend the conference events and to allow the international delegates to the conference to experience some of the dialogue that takes place in South Africa. We hope to give the international guests at the conference an opportunity to witness or participate in a unique moment of public conversation about the challenges of reconciliation in South Africa. Many conference delegates at the 2006 conference said that participating in the public events was an important learning experience about the challenges of reconciliation in South Africa.
The discussion begins at 5:30 pm sharp at UCT’s Kramer Law Building on the varsity’s middle campus. Click here for a map with directions to the building from Main Road, Rondebosch.
The event will doubtless attract a lot of attention, so it will pay to arrive early!
