Alert! The Book Lounge is going great guns this week, with four events that start with the launch of Danie Marais’ As almal ver is on Wednesday and Andrew Brown’s Refuge on Thursday (note: not at the Lounge, but at the Centre for the Book), and finishing with two tasty treats on Friday and Saturday…
…the first of said treats being a pre-Halloween Fright Night:
For a rare Fri(ght)day Night event at The Book Lounge, on 23 October, at 6:30pm we are hosting Bloody Parchment - the literary side of the South African Horrorfest. Authors appearing will be, amongst others, Lauren Beukes, Sarah Lotz and The Book Lounge’s very own Werner Pretorius.

…and the second being something completely different:
And on Saturday, 24 October, at 3:00pm we are doing something else quite different again. Following the lettercarving collaboration between South African and Belgian artists and poets from 2008, we are very pleased to be hosting the launch of Wor[l]ds, the beautiful book that was put together to showcase this collaboration, in which a number of different stonecarvers set their craft to work on different poems. This project also included the training of a number of local carvers whose work will be available to view at the studio of the Number One Letter Carvers at the Castle from 1.45 to 2.45. We will then start the book launch at the shop at 3.00pm which will also include a short graduation ceremony for the carvers that have passed their training course.
