Alert! JM Coetzee has recorded a reading from his forthcoming book, Summertime, for the New York Review of Books - which, in turn, has made the mp3 file streamable, so we present it for you here.
In the 26 minute recording, Coetzee reads the excerpt that appeared in the NYRB last month - the third-person passage in which “John” goes to the rugby with his father.
The delivery, it’s safe to say, will transport Coetzee fans into raptures:
