So you’re hitting the road, off to some place enviable? Take your camera and your notebook because there’s a new travel writing competition to reward your creativity.
If you’re just back with waves of photos making up the screen saver collage that your boss has caught you staring at wistfully, don’t get fired for your irrepressible wanderlust (which has probably now exceeded your budget). Write up the details of those distant shorelines, historic farmhouses or exquisite architecture from other ages and enter to win a trip to Abu Dhabi.
Judges Arja Salafranca, Mary Corrigal, Veruska de Vita and Mark Espin are eagerly awaiting the best account of your all-true travels and adventures.
We’re kidding? Nah! Right here… look:
Here’s your chance to enter The Sunday Independent Travel Writing Competition 2008. All three winning entries will be published on the travel pages of The Sunday Independent.
Write a narrative travel piece, which summons the sights and sounds of a foreign or local destination
Stories must be between 1 400 and 2 000 words. Entries must reach us by August 29 2008.
